Code Implications for Repairs in Existing Buildings

Insurance CE

This seminar is designed to provide property adjusters with a design professional’s perspective on how building code requirements can impact the scope of repair work associated with property losses. The presentation will focus primarily on the 2021 International Existing Building Code (IEBC), a model code that has been widely adopted by states and municipalities over the past several decades, and will include a brief overview of the code’s history and development. Attendees will gain an understanding of the organization of the code and the key factors design professionals must evaluate to ensure compliance during repair and restoration projects. The seminar will also feature real-world project examples that illustrate various methods of compliance, along with discussions of unique challenges and nuances that can result from local amendments to state and municipal building codes.
