Forensic investigation of subsurface geotechnical or geological incidents can be complex. Though certain damages may be viewed from the surface, the primary cause sometimes resides in the subsurface. YA Group geotechnical investigation professionals are experienced in assessing damages to structures and their foundations resulting from subsurface conditions, including sinkhole activity, shrink/swell and expansive clays, slope movement or failure, landslides, collapsible soils, organic soils, inadequate placement of soils and other earth moment conditions, as well as hydrofracking, mining, and landfill activity. YA also performs investigations of related fields such as hydrology (surface water/erosion) and geohydrology (groundwater). In addition, YA geotechnical engineering experts have experience addressing soil and groundwater contamination issues.
