Challenge Overview
A longstanding surety client called on YA Group for support with a surety bond claim involving the construction of a large community pool facility. The principal hadn’t completed various punch list items, and as a result the obligee was holding over $100,000 in retention and final payment. Improper installation of the community pool’s deck coating created an unsafe, slippery condition. Additionally, various cracks developed in the pool plastering. This cracking would allow water to leak into the subsurface surrounding the pool. The principal subsequently went out of business and was unable to make the repairs.
