Professional Biography
Josh Shields is a Partner at YA Group, where he manages consulting teams across Colorado and Oklahoma. He has more than 30 years of experience in the construction and insurance industries. He specializes in evaluating scopes of loss, estimating, and project management. Josh has been involved in the evaluation of disasters caused by water, fire, flood, hurricanes, tornadoes, wind, and hail. In addition to consulting directly on property loss claims, Josh is actively involved in mentoring and assisting other consultants in his region to help ensure the highest quality work product for YA Group’s clients.
Josh has extensive experience consulting on large and complex insurance losses, including schools, shopping malls, high‑rise hotels, high‑rise office and condominium buildings, apartment complexes, manufacturing buildings, refineries, and multi‑building corporate campuses. His work across these diverse property types has strengthened his ability to evaluate damage thoroughly and support accurate loss assessments.
Josh’s background spans numerous sectors within the construction industry, including work as a project manager for a national homebuilder, a custom homebuilder, a petroleum pipeline and processing facility construction manager, and a construction consultant. This broad and diverse experience provides him with a balanced perspective and in‑depth knowledge to support accurate damage assessments and facilitate agreement on scope and repair costs throughout the claims process.
