Professional Biography
Cody Bates is a Regional Consultant at YA Group specializing in construction cost estimating and invoice review for insurance carriers and independent adjusting firms responding to catastrophic weather events.
With direct experience overseeing restoration companies, Cody brings a practitioner’s perspective to negotiating mitigation and reconstruction costs — preparing analyses that are complete, accurate, and detailed, and structured to hold up against scrutiny from an insured’s contractor or representative.
Cody has consulted on large losses involving catastrophic damage across multiple regions of the country and is well-versed in all aspects of CAT losses — including fire, flood, tornado, and hurricane damage. Cody routinely reviews contractor-submitted estimates, proposals, and invoices to ensure costs are fair, reasonable, and aligned with the scope of damage and restoration work across both cost-plus and fixed-cost contract structures.
Cody holds the IICRC Water Restoration Technician (WRT) certification and is an FAA-certified sUAS Drone Pilot, enabling him to conduct aerial site assessments and documentation as part of his consulting work. He has been engaged on assignments spanning Hurricanes Irma, Maria, Michael, Hanna, Delta, Ida, Helene, and Milton, as well as major winter storm and freeze events across the Gulf Coast, Southeast, Northeast, and Caribbean.
