Field Application of Semi-Analytical Microscopy on Fire and Corrosion

The purpose of the class is to explore a field technique which, when properly understood and used, is capable of providing immediate on-site identification of fire related contamination (char, soot, corrosion). The class will present the science behind the significance of these contaminants and existing methods used to identify them. Analytical laboratory and field techniques will be presented to educate participants on the effectiveness and limitations of different techniques. Understanding the information available from and the limitations of these techniques will give insurance adjusters more tools to be able to better understand and evaluate damages and properly adjust a claim.
