Professional Biography
Dr. Bryan Lewis is a Regional Equipment Loss Consultant at YA Group and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University—Idaho, where he teaches courses in numerical analysis, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and product design. He is also a licensed professional engineer (PE) in Texas and Idaho.
Before entering academia, Dr. Lewis worked as a senior research engineer at Halliburton Energy Services, where he specialized in oil field research and product development. His work included the development of hydraulic fracturing pumps, sand transport systems, and fluid-sand blending equipment. Notably, he was the lead engineer for Halliburton’s sound-mitigated hydraulic fracturing units, a project that required close collaboration with manufacturing firms, field operations, oil companies, and state environmental regulators.
Dr. Lewis’ PhD research focused on computational fluid dynamics, specifically in hydroturbines and high-performance computing. He also participated in the Global Engineering Teams program, collaborating with graduate engineers from South Africa to design and develop a rural mobile health clinic for the South African Department of Health. Additionally, Dr. Lewis is deeply involved in leadership roles with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
