Professional Biography

Dr. Bryan Lewis is a Regional Equipment Loss Consultant at YA Group and a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Brigham Young University—Idaho, where he teaches courses in numerical analysis, fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and product design. A licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and Idaho, Bryan also serves as Senior Vice President for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), advising staff on business, events, and program initiatives supporting professional and student sections, and working with the Board of Governors and CEO on long-term planning, key strategies, and growth in alignment with ASME’s professional and financial goals.

Bryan has extensive experience in oil field research and product development, having previously served as a Senior Research Engineer at Halliburton Energy Services. His work there included the development of hydraulic fracturing pumps, sand transport systems, and fluid-sand blending equipment. He served as lead engineer for Halliburton’s sound-mitigated hydraulic fracturing units, a project requiring close collaboration with manufacturing firms, field operations, oil companies, and state environmental regulators.

Bryan’s doctoral research focused on computational fluid dynamics in hydroturbines and high-performance computing. He also participated in the Global Engineering Teams program, collaborating with graduate engineers from South Africa to design and develop a rural mobile health clinic for the South African Department of Health. Bryan holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering and brings a distinctive combination of academic expertise, industry experience, and professional leadership to his consulting work at YA Group.
