Biography

Edward Bennett is a licensed Professional Civil Engineer and General Contractor with experience in design / construction of building envelope, foundation, HVAC and other building systems. He brings over forty years of real-world design, project management and construction experience to Guardian Group, Inc.’s staff of professional consultants. Areas of specialty include: complex construction defect litigation for developers, general contractors, subcontractors, and insurance clients. His background as a Licensed Civil Engineer and General Engineering and Building Contractor affords Guardian’s clients a coveted depth and breadth, as well as a unique combination of engineering and “hands-on” construction experience. Project experience includes: residential, multi-family, commercial, retail, heavy-industrial, municipal, utility services as well as entertainment and resort complexes.

Mr. Bennett offers expert services in cases involving residential and commercial plumbing systems, HVAC system installation, framing, block wall, landscaping, paving, grading and underground utilities for subdivision projects, window installation, sheet metal/gutter installations, roofing including built-up, metal, shake, single-ply and other fluid applied roofing systems, cement plaster stucco, EIFS, masonry cladding, ceramic tile and stone application, light commercial and residential construction, concrete and foundation installation, real estate inspection and disclosure, liquid-applied, sheet membrane, mineral- and cement-based above- and below-grade waterproofing and cost estimating.

Mr. Bennett performs all aspects of construction defect ligation support, including: analysis of claims, field inspection and documentation of defects, cause and origin analysis, cost estimating, financial analysis, contractor standard of care and allocation of responsibility for developer and individual subcontractor clients. He works with insurance claim professionals and their counsel to analyze, define and migate construcon related damages in areas of construcon defect, property and casualty and surety bond losses. Mr. Bennett assists with claims invesgaon and selement, mediaon and construcon dispute resoluon, affirmave claims preparaon,, payment and performance bond claims analysis. He also provides project management, delay claim analysis, evaluates status, performs cost estimates to complete and coordinates, and directly supervises subcontractors for a wide variety of bonded commercial, municipal and residential projects, including: manufactured building installation, school construction, commercial glazing/curtain wall installation and testing, site grading, drainage and compaction, underground water, storm and sewer installations, dry utilities, concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter, asphalt paving and landscape and other subdivision improvements.
