Biography

Rob McGuire joined YOUNG & Associates in 2023 as a Regional Consultant. Before joining YOUNG & Associates, Mr. McGuire was with the U.S. Merchant Marine for more than 30 years, ultimately serving as a Chief Engineer for ten years. As a member of the Marine Engineers Beneficial Association union, Mr. McGuire had the opportunity to work around the globe aboard a variety of vessels, including container ships, tanker ships, dry bulk carrier ships, and Roll-On/Roll-Off ships (“RO-RO”). As Chief Engineer, Mr. McGuire was responsible for responding to and remedying numerous shipboard casualty situations, such as boiler failures, loss of propulsion, engine overspeed, mechanical and electrical motor failures, fires, and equipment failures.

Mr. McGuire has broad experience with operating and maintaining all the mechanical and electrical systems aboard modern commercial vessels. Following years of hands-on experience with troubleshooting and solving issues with maritime systems and equipment, Mr. McGuire is well-qualified to provide the scope of repair analysis and repair cost estimating for damage sustained aboard maritime vessels. Furthermore, Mr. McGuire can provide standard-of-care consultation for issues involving crew safety and questions of reasonable repair efforts.
