Biography

Al Alcala has over 40 years of experience in the fire and explosion private forensics industry and serves as YA Group’s valued director of fire and explosion. As an investigator for the insurance industry, manufacturers, and legal communities, he excels at determining the origin and cause of fires, explosions, marine and wild-land fire incidents, and other investigative activities.

Al’s expertise and professionalism make him a trusted expert witness, having testified numerous times at trial and deposition. His systematic approach to all investigations ensures that clients receive the information and documentation necessary to determine the next course of action.

As a bilingual investigator, Al has worked on investigations across the United States and internationally. During his tenure with Tampa Fire Rescue and the Tampa Police Department, he conducted over 2,400 fire origin and cause investigations and served on a multi-agency federal task force with ATF and the Federal Bureau of Investigations. He was instrumental in the investigation of many high-profile cases, including those involving serial arsonists, arson for profit, insurance fraud, and homicides.

Al received specialized training in fire and explosion investigations at the Federal Law Enforcement Training, making him a highly trained and skilled professional.
