Professional Biography
John F. Davis, Jr. is a Senior Managing Accident Reconstructionist at YA Group who specializes in the investigation and reconstruction of motor vehicle collisions.
John has considerable experience downloading and analyzing leading-edge digital forensics data from various sources, including tractor-trailer and automobile electronic data recorders (ECM, EDR, RCM, ACM, CDR, black boxes, etc.), video event data recorders (DriveCam, SmartDrive, etc.), heavy truck telematics systems (Qualcomm, PeopleNet, etc.), Garmin and other personal GPS-based devices, ABS systems (Bendix, Wabco, etc.), and numerous other devices. He has extensive experience inspecting and documenting the condition of braking systems on tractor-trailers and heavy trucks to determine their existing braking capability and apply that to the specifics of a particular collision.
Additionally, John is trained in interrogating and analyzing digital video evidence, and produces demonstrative exhibits to highlight areas of concern. He has experience analyzing videos from dash cameras, surveillance cameras, body cameras, and other sources to determine speed, time, distance, traffic signal sequences, use of turn signals, and other important factors in accident reconstruction.
