Biography

Mark Kilgore is a seasoned Forensic Engineer with over 20 years of experience investigating construction defects, structural engineering issues, design professional liability, and construction site accidents. Before joining YA, he led his own forensic engineering firm, building on a career that included serving as a Senior Structural/Civil Engineer with a prominent Mid-Atlantic forensic firm. There, he collaborated with top law firms in New York, Washington, D.C., and Philadelphia on high-profile cases. Mark is a native of Atlanta, GA, pulls for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, the Florida Gators, and believe it or not, the New York Yankees.

Representative Consulting Assignments

  • Museum | Building Information Modeling/Contract Breech | Investigated the failure of a major Mid-Atlantic Contractor to incorporate 3D modeling and BIM into a major expansion of a privately held Museum.
  • Residential | Design Professional Liability | Worked to defend a Mechanical Engineer against claims of failure to practice according to the accepted standard of care on a large multi-million dollar residential project in Washington, D.C.
  • Cement Silo | Structural Collapse | Worked on behalf of a process piping company to defend against claims of improper modification of a cement silo in which the concrete top cap collapsed, killing a worker that was on top of the cement silo.
