Biography
John began his career in 2016 in transportation engineering, first as a superintendent at a road contractor, then as a roadway designer. He is experienced in project management and scheduling, pavement design, rural drainage design, and intersection design. In 2021, he transitioned to forensic engineering to pursue a more dynamic work setting. His forensic engineering experience has focused on residential and light commercial structures and their components. He is experienced in assessing storm damage, vehicle and tree impacts, structural building code reviews, and foundation issues. He has performed many structural renovation designs for existing residential structures using lumber and steel construction.

Representative Consulting Assignments
- Union Pacific High-Speed Rail Upgrade | McLean County, IL | Supervised the reconstruction of the roadway at over 50 railroad crossings in and adjacent to McLean County as part of a High-Speed Rail Upgrade
- Whitney Hill Wind Farm | Logan County, IL | Performed a pavement assessment and redesign of over 30 miles of roadway in Logan County. Designed over 80 culverts to accommodate new drainage patterns and road profiles and cross-sections.
- College Campus | Storm Damage Assessment | A college reported hail damage to every roof on campus, requiring a full assessment of the roof and exterior surfaces of every structure on campus.
- Private Residence | Structural Assessment, Tornado | This home was in the direct path of the tornado, with multiple nearby total losses. Widespread damage to the siding and roof covering was observed, requiring a structural assessment of the house prior to beginning repairs.
- Private Residence | Foundation Assessmen | The owner of a condominium noticed sloping floors and significant cracking and shifting of the drywall in excess of 3/4" in multiple areas of the unit shortly after purchasing the property, requiring an assessment of the foundation and removal of the drywall in multiple locations to observe the drywall and the wood framing behind it.
- Healthcare Facility | Structural Assessment, Abrupt Failure | A portion of the roof of a healthcare facility abruptly failed during a thunderstorm. Performed an emergency evaluation of the structure to determine the feasibility of accessing and extracting critical medical equipment and medications.
