Biography

John Humphreys is a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with over 23 years of experience in vocational rehabilitation and counseling. John is a valued member of the YA Group team, bringing deep expertise in vocational evaluation, case management, and employment services for individuals with acquired and developmental disabilities.

His career began after earning a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia, followed by a dual master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and Vocational Evaluation from East Carolina University. John also completed certification in Substance Abuse Counseling from Central Piedmont Community College and holds the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) credential.

Before his current role, John worked as Director of Vocational Services for Carolinas Rehabilitation Hospital in Charlotte, NC, where he provided vocational counseling, evaluation, job placement, and training for individuals with traumatic brain injuries, strokes, and spinal cord injuries. Earlier in his career, he instructed children with intellectual and developmental disabilities, helping them prepare for work and independent living.

John also served as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor for the North Carolina Division of Services for the Blind. In that role, he managed a caseload of individuals with low vision and blindness, delivering assessments, counseling, and services to help clients identify, obtain, and maintain competitive employment. His extensive experience ensures successful outcomes for individuals navigating complex rehabilitation needs.
